Orpha L. Trettin, 86, of Grafton died Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, with the Rev. Wayne Ellingson and the Rev. Rose Marie Nack officiating. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery.

Orpha was born December 14, 1913, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Hillborn) Bryun. She was raised in Manly and graduated from Manly High School.

Orpha married Roy H. Trettin on June 25, 1933, at Manly. They farmed in and around the Grafton area all of their lives, retiring to Grafton in 1973. Roy died on December 29, 1974.

Orpha was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She held several different offices in church organizations and was a 4-H leader and a Music Mother.

Orpha was affectionately known as "Granny" to her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Schmidt, of Osage; a son, Dale (Coleen) Trettin, of Grafton; a son-in-law, Wayne (Lavon) Braun, of Granite, OK; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Trettin, of Mason City; grandchildren, Vicki (James) Kroneman, Osage, Robin (Duane) Tabbert, Grafton, Kimberly (Michael) Spitz, Osage, Dawn (Dwane) Schutter, Titonka, Todd (Jennifer) Trettin, Carpenter, Deborah (Carl) Belcher, San Antonio, TX, Meri Jo (David) Drone, Altus, OK, John (Cindy) Braun, Altus, OK, William (Linda) Braun, Farmington, AR, and Kevin Braun, Granite, OK; 15 great-grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father; her husband, Roy in 1974, and a daughter, Maxine Braun in 1993.
