G. KOEHLER DIES AT
KARL SCHMIDT HOME
AGE 96

Gottlieb Koehler, father of Mrs. Karl Schmidt, died at the Schmidt home on Monday evening at 10 o'clock from a serious cold, and will be buried in the Grafton cemetery today, Thursday.

Mr. Koehler had lived in the Schmidt home since 1916 and had reached his advanced age without having had a serious illness of any kind.

OBITUARY--

Gottlieb G. Koehler, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Koehler, was born at Gammensfield, Germany on July 22, 1846. He was baptized in the Christian faith, given the full course of religious instruction, and accepted into communicant membership of the Lutheran Church on Penticost Sunday.

He came to America in 1871 at ... and settled in Helenville, Wisconsin, where he ....

He was married to Miss ____ Horn in 1873, and they lived in Wisconsin for the following four years, when they moved to Grafton, Iowa.

To this union the following 11 children, in order of birth, were born: Gottlieb (George) deceased, Margaret who died in infancy; Elsie, Mrs. Henry Tabert, who died in 1912; Esther, Mrs. Carl Pribbernow of North Dakota, also deceased; Mary, Mrs. George Wahl of Grafton; William of Hankinson, North Dakota; Reinhold P., and John, both of Grafton; Helena, Mrs. Karl Schmidt, of Osage; Ferdinand of Manly, and Ernest of Bixby, Minnesota.

Mrs. Koehler died on September 13, 1911, and in the year 1916, Mr. Koehler came to Osage to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Karl Schmidt. He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and his last attendance was on Good Friday, April 23, of this year, when he partook of the Lord's Supper.

Mr. Koehler is survived by 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

His pastor was called to his bedside Monday when he was still able to speak, and shortly after his physician pronounced his condition as serious. He passed away at 10 o'clock that evening at the age of 96 years, 9 months, an 18 days.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 1:30 at the Champion funeral home, 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, and at 3:30 o'clock burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery.
