Funeral services were held friday, May 30, 1986, at Hogan-Bremer-Bride Colonial Chapel in Manly, Iowa, for Emma Herfendal, 72, of Grafton, Worth county, Iowa. She died on Tuesday, May 27, 1986 at a Mason City hospital. The Rev. J. Fladland officiated and burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

She was born on September 8, 1913, south of Lake Mills, Iowa, to Aslak and Anna Mina (Slattum) Aamodt. She attended school in Northwood and married Glen Brieland on June 10, 1931 in Mason City. The couple lived in Fargo, North Dakota, and later moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota. They farmed near Emmons, Minnesota, and later moved to Lake Mills.

She married Arthur E. Herfendal in 1949 in Emmons, Minnesota. They farmed near Emmons and later moved to Lake Mills. After Mr. Herfendal died, in 1968, she moved to Grafton.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran church, and Senior Citizens in Grafton.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Everly of Manchester; one son, Gary N. Brieland of St. Paul, Minnesota; two grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Roppe of Northwood, and Hulda Johnson of Des Moines; and one brother, Joe Aamodt of Mason City.
