Ole married Julietta "Etta" Andersdatter Grov on May 20, 1896 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 2 sons: Arthur Helmer Brenden and an unnamed male who was stillborn.

Obituary from Mason City Globe Gazette, March 10, 1936:
Ole Brenden died at his home in Fertile Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church.
Mr Brenden leaves his wife Etta and one son, Arthur and two grandchildren, Francis Mae and LaVonne and several brothers and sisters. Mr Brenden had been in failing health about a year.
