Former Grafton resident, Ruben C. Kanzenbach, 71, died Friday, August 23, 1985, at a Salem, OR hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, with the Rev. James Fladland officiating. Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.
Mr. Kanzenbach was born April 28, 1914, in Grafton to William F. and Martha H. (Beyer) Kanzenbach. He attended school in Grafton and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps near Centerville and Albia.
He married Fernalee Cox in September 1936. He worked with his father as a carpenter in Grafton for a short time before becoming employed at Wilson Meat Packing Co., Albert Lea, MN, where he worked for 20 years. He later lived in Medelia, MN, where he retired in 1964 due to ill health. He was a member of the meatpackers local union at Albert Lea, MN. Mr. Kanzanbach lived in Salem, OR for eight years.
Survivors include his wife, Fernalee, Salem, OR; three sons, Richard, Alden, MN, Byron, Hayward, CA, and Melvin, Faribault, MN; one daughter, Ardith (Douglas) Amundson, Sebeka, MN; one brother, Wilmer, Faribault, MN; two sisters, Leona Foley, Northwood, and Ruth (Ira) Smith, Grafton; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
