Mrs. Walter (Verna) Wagner, 72, died Saturday, October 18, 1980, at her home in Grafton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 21, 1980, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. The Rev. Gary Panko officiated, and burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.
Verna Elizabeth Hasse was born September 23, 1908, to William and Kate Hasse in Hoffman, MN. The family moved to Grafton while she was an infant, and she was baptized November 8, 1908 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was confirmed April 13, 1924, also at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Verna attended school in Grafton and graduated from Osage High School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College, and taught elementary grades for several years in the country schools around Grafton. She married Walter Wagner on August 9, 1928, and they had two sons, James and Tom.
She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, ALCW, and circles, and also belonged to the Grafton Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; two sons, James, Billings, MT, and Tom, Iowa City; and six granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lester.
