Birchard Dalluge, 86, died Friday, January 6, 1995, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at the Emmanuel Luthern Church, Grafton, with the Rev. Gregory Bjornstad and the Rev. David Anderson, officiating. Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.
Birchard Dalluge was born June 8, 1908, near Grafton, to Rudolph and Alvina (Baethke) Dalluge. He attended Grafton schools and graduated from Osage High School. He also attended Luther College in Decorah.
He married Ruth Bork on June 27, 1937, at Grafton. They made their home in Grafton. He owned the Grafton Produce and from 1942 until retiring in 1976, he raised turkeys.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, where he was a Sunday School teacher and also taught adult classes. He was the Sunday School Superintendent, President of the church board, and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the church stewardship committee and the building committee. He was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood.
Mr. Dalluge was also active in community affairs where he was a town councilman and an officer in the Grafton Co-op, and a member of the Grafton school board.
He enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, and he enjoyed his family.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Dalluge, Grafton; one daughter, Mary (Bob) Trettin, Waterloo; one son, Larry (Carol) Dalluge, Grafton, six grandchildren, Steve, Julie, Brad, Amy, Michael, and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Nicholas, Dustin, Alissa, Zachary, Jacob, and Damon; special sisters-in-law; and many relatives and friends.
He was preced in death by his parents; one brother, Lawrence; one sister Bernice Walk; infant sister, Ruth; grandson, Timothy Trettin; and great-grandson, Christian Dalluge.
