Etta Spilde – February 10, 1895 – October 19, 1957

ETTA SPILDE, 72 DIES; SERVICES TO BE TUESDAY

Northwood – Etta Spilde, 72, a longtime resident of Northwood, died at an Independence hospital Saturday. She had lived in a nursing home in Mason City for the past 10 years.

Miss Spilde was born February 10, 1895, on a farm southeast of Northwood. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Northwood and belonged to the L.D.R.

She was a graduate of the Northwood High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in Worth County several years and was also a Sunday School teacher.

Surviving Miss Spilde are three sisters; Mrs. A. I. Butler, Spokane, Washington; Mrs. E. S. Fonda, Waterville, Minnesota; and Mabel Thompson, St. Ansgar; and two brothers; Elmer and Leonard, both of Northwood.

Funeral services will be at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood Tuesday. There will be a prayer service at 1:45 and the main service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Oscar Mikkelson will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery.
