Nina B. Knutson, 78, of Northwood, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Bents officiating. Burial will be in the South Shell Rock Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. South. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Nina Beatrice Knutson was born on April 19, 1917, in Rockwell, the daughter of William and Melinda (Muth) Lubben. She was baptized and affirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Rockwell. She attended and received her education in the Rockwell School system, graduating from Rockwell High School. She also attended and graduated from LaJames College of Hairstyling and Cosmetology in Mason City. After completing her schooling she started to work as a beautician at the Northwood Hotel. She then owned and operated her own beauty shop in her home in rural Northwood.

She was united in marriage to Leslie Harland Knutson on June 4, 1944, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Rockwell. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1990.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, and did numerous volunteer projects at the church.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood, the Rachel Circle at the church, and the 3M Camera Club in Northwood.

Survivors include one uncle, Melvin Muth and his wife, Merilayne, of Mason City, as well as several cousins and many friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
