DUSHANE RITES IN NORTHWOOD
PIONEER OF WORTH COUNTY BURIED AFTER SEVERAL YEARS ILLNESS

Northwood, April 26. – Burial services were held here Friday at Sunset Rest Cemetery for John G. DuShane, 82, a former resident of Northwood who died Monday at the state hospital for the insane at St. Peter, Minn.

Mr. DuShane was a native of Philadelphia, Penn., where he was born August 22, 1847. He was one of six children of John M. and Rebecca L. DuShane of whom two survive him; Mrs. Ella Cleveland and George L. DuShane of Osage.

The family moved to Rock County, Wisconsin, when Mr. DuShane was 11 years old where they resided nine years, then coming to Mitchell County.

About 35 years ago Mr. DuShane moved to Northwood where he lived for 20 years or more, moving from here to Albert Lea, Minn. He lived in Albert Lea until the past winter when feeble health and an unfavorable mental condition made it seem wise to remove him to the state hospital at St. Peter where he remained till his death.

His brother, George L. DuShane and sister, Mrs. Ella Cleveland of Osage, and nephews and nieces, Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Cleveland and two children and Mrs. A. O. Gilbertson of St. Ansgar, accompanied the body to Northwood following the funeral services which were given at Osage. The Rev. E. B. Frye, pastor of the Methodist Church at Osage who conducted the funeral services also came to Northwood and conducted the burial services at the grave.

A nephew George Scofield, resides at Northwood, his mother, the late Mrs. Anna M. Scofield, being a sister of Mr. DuShane.
