DENNIS KEITH LIEN
JOICE - Dennis Keith Lien, 52, of Joice, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at his home in Joice.
His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice, with the Rev. Bill Peters officiating. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery in rural Joice, with military rites conducted by the Lake Mills Otto/Chose Post 235.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral Home and again one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
Dennis Keith Lien was born on Aug. 27, 1949 in Forest City. His parents were Orvil H. and Gayla A. (Walkner) Lien.
He grew up in Lake Mills and attended Lake Mills Community School until he graduated in 1967. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.
Dennis served in the United States Army two years, beginning in July of 1969, with one of those years being served in Vietnam as a military policeman.
He was a member of the Otto/Chose American Legion Post #235.
Denny was united in marriage to Mardene Sue Anonson on Aug. 25, 1973 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice. They spent most of their life together residing in Joice. They had three daughters, Sara Elizabeth, Carrie Sue, and Melissa Ann.
Denny graduated from ALAVTI, a vo-tech college, in Albert Lea in 1976 majoring in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He worked for Streater, Inc. for nearly 20 years and was employed there when he passed away.
He was on the Joice Fire Department for 24 years where he served as secretary for several of those years.
Denny enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. His faith in Jesus was a great comfort to him.
He loved to be outside where he spent hours taking care of the lawn and mowing. He was always helping out with numerous projects and could be counted on to always be there when needed.
Denny is survived by his wife, Mardene, of Joice; his daughter, Sara and her husband, Steve Hagen, of Lake Mills, his daughter, Carrie, of Joice, and his daughter, Melissa and Ryan Joynt, of Lake Mills; four grandchildren, Tanner, Marcus, Jadyn, and Hannah; one step-grandchild, Ashley; his mother Galya Lien; one brother, Milo and his wife, Louise Lien; two sisters, Linda and her husband, Bob Lair; and Mary and her husband, Rick Flo; his father-in-law, Spencer and his wife, Senoma Anonson; a brother-in-law, Barry and his wife, Terry Anonson; four nieces and seven nephews; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orvil Lien; one brother, Rick Lien; his mother-in-law, Marian Anonson; and one niece, Jamie Lien.
