MARIE V. HASTY
MANLY - Marie V. Hasty, 74, of Manly died Sunday (Dec. 23, 2001) at her home.
A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, with the Rev. David Kucera officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City, with a 5:30 p.m. rosary service and a 6 p.m. scriptural wake service, followed by a Moose Lodge service at 6:30 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to services on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly.
Memorials may be made to the Marie Hasty Memorial Fund.
Marie V. (Adams) Hasty was born April 2, 1927, in Austin, Minn., the daughter of Marvin and Lillian (Maricle) Bumgarner. She attended schools in Austin.
She moved to Mason City in 1951 where she began working for Mercy Medical Center as a nurse aid.
She was united in marriage to Patrick Hasty on Aug. 5, 1972, in Canton, S.D. They later moved to Manly, where they made their home.
After 33 years of service to Mercy Medical Center, she retired in 1989. In her retirement she worked through Hospice of North Iowa helping patients in their homes.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moose Women and the Eagles in Cedar Rapids.
She enjoyed spending time crocheting, fishing and working crossword puzzles.
She will be missed by those who knew and loved her, including her husband, Patrick Hasty, of Manly; children, Marvin Adams and special friend, Debra Meyer Hoffer, of Mason City, Susan Nitcher and special friend Robert Quast, of Burlington, Paula Weaver and husband, Cecil, of Mason City, Matthew Adams and wife, Deborah, of Orland, Calif., Mary Reich and special friend, Donald Hutzell, of Marble Rock, and Marsha Haberkorn and husband, Dennis; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sisters, Harriet Hove and husband, Abel, of Faribault, Minn., and Jeannine Witte and husband, Charles, of St. Paul, Minn.; brother, Richard Bumgarner and wife, Katie, of Austin, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Paul Adams; grandson, Patrick Adams; and brothers Raymond, Harold and Lyle Bumgarner.
