ERMA G. POPP
March 14, 1910 – December 4, 1993Mrs. Erma G. Popp, longtime resident of Manly, died at the Good Shepherd Geriatric Center in Mason City where she had been residing several months.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, December 7, 1993 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly. The Rev. William Arquitt pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Manly, with the Bride Colonial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers were Gene Halfman, Kenneth Smith, Melvin Weaverling, John Weaverling Dick Mathahs and Kay Reindl. Alice Paulus provided organ music for the service. The Rosary was said at the funeral home Monday evening, December 6, 1993.
Erma G. (Messing) Popp was born March 14, 1910 at Granton, WI. She received her elementary education in Granton, WI.
On August 27, 1928 she was married to John J. Popp at Mason City, IA. She had worked at the Midway Café for a number of years in Manly. In her retiring years, she did much volunteer work in the manner of making many, many pairs of mittens, sewing quilts, etc. for her church and other service groups. She enjoyed sewing and knitting.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Manly and a church guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on August 16, 1974, and one sister, Barbara.
She is survived by one son, Leonard J. Popp and his wife Darlene, of Mesa AZ; four grandchildren, Mrs. Robert (Diana) Hrinek, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Peggy, Terry Popp and Leonard F. Popp; one sister, Rosalind Harrison of Middleton, WI, and one brother, Elmer Messing of Marshfield, WI.
