Lynn M. Ramsey
(April 20, 1929 - October 20, 2010)Lynn M. Ramsey, 81, of Joice, Iowa, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
Lynn Murray Ramsey was born April 20, 1929, on the farm near Joice where he lived until the time of his death. He was the son of Theodore and Wilma (Nelson) Ramsey. He was baptized at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Joice, where he remained a member. Lynn attended Larson Country School south of Joice, Lake Mills School and Joice High School.
On October 5, 1947, he was united in marriage to Norma Mae Thompson at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Joice. To this union their three daughters, Wendy, Bonnie and Rhonda, were born. Lynn farmed with his father, later worked at Deluxe Products in Lake Mills as an inspector, then at Winnebago Industries in Forest City for 26 years as the Welding Shop Manager. He retired in l992 after a two-month stay in St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester due to a bad fall in December of 1991.
Years ago, he loved riding his horses and was an active member of the Lake Mills Saddle Club and enjoyed the trail rides around Rice Lake. He was a 4-H club leader. Lynn was a trustee at his church for many years. He enjoyed singing in the "Bethel Singers" and just attending regular Sunday morning services. He was a hospice volunteer for about ten years. Lynn had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking with his friends and his nurses and doctors while in the hospital.
Lynn's memory will always be in the hearts and minds of his loving family which includes his devoted wife of 63 years, Norma; his two daughters, Wendy (Russell) Mikkelson, of Hurricane, Utah, and Bonnie (Steve) Rodberg, of Lake Mills; four grandchildren, Kristie (Chris) Lynch, of Urbandale, Iowa, Jennifer (Rodney) Moss, of St. George, Utah, Matthew (Starr) Mikkelson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Cheri (Chris) Schumann of Kiester, Minnesota; and nine great-grandchildren: Morgan and Madilyn Lynch, Madison Rodgers and Joshua Moss; Scotlyn, Parker and Cooper Mikkelson; and Josie and C.J. Schumann; two sisters, Wava (Palmer) Valder and Beryl Sand; two sisters-in-law, Mavis Olson and Elaine Aamodt, all of Lake Mills and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Renae, in 1981; his parents and his mother- and father-in-law, one brother, Dean, in infancy , and four brothers-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church Building Fund or the Lake Mills Historical Society or any charity of their choice.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, October 25, 2010, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice, Iowa, with Pastor Kevin Olson officiating.
Visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa, and again one hour prior to the service on Monday morning at the church.
Burial will take place at Beaver Creek Cemetery in rural Joice, Iowa.
