Enis J. Brunsvold, 79, of rural Hanlontown, died Thursday (October 11, 2007) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, with the Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Graveside services and internment took place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Concordia Cemetery in rural Joice.
Enis Jerome Brunsvold was born on Nov. 19, 1927, on the farm near Hanlontown., son of Jorgen G. and Bella (Brunsvold) Brunsvold.
Enis farmed the home farm all of his life.
On Oct. 24, 1980, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Irene Kephart in Mason City.
Enis loved to spend time in his machine shed and enjoyed trips to the Amish Community. Even though he kept to himself, he enjoyed telling Norwegian jokes in his slow-spoken manner. Enis was an avid reader and remained very knowledgeable on current events, both locally and around the world.
Enis is survived by his wife, Evelyn Brunsvold of Hanlontown; step-children: Betty Nichols and her husband, Jack, of Waterloo; George Grouette, Jr. and his wife, Paula, of San Marcos, Texas; David Grouette of Hanlontown; Paul Grouette and his wife, Tammy, of Mason City; Bill Grouette and his wife, Cindy, of Northwood; fifteen step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Haugo, of Lake Mills; along with several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step- grandson, Michael Grouette; one brother, in infancy; two sisters, Ona Anderson and Beatrice Sorenson; and a son-in-law, John Cooley.
