Truly Mae Nelson Hansen

Funeral service for Truly Mae Nelson Hansen was held Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church, rural Glenville. The Rev. Dan Baker officiated. Burial was at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lyle.

Truly Mae Nelson Hansen, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at the Austin Medical Center in Austin.

She was born May 27, 1913, to Walter and Isabella (Kvale) Pike in Deer Creek Township, Worth County, Iowa. She was confirmed at Deer Creek Lutheran Church of Carpenter and graduated from Otranto High School of Otranto in 1931.
Truly Pike married Rudolph Nelson in 1933 at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church of rural Northwood. They farmed near London until his death in 1964. She moved to Albert Lea where she worked at Land O'Lakes and St. John's Lutheran Home. She married Art Hansen in 1974 at Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church, rural Glenville. They resided in Glenville. He preceded her in death. She moved to Lyle and later to Austin, with St. Mark's Lutheran Home as her last residence.

She was a member of Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church rural Glenville, and was active in WELCA and circle. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, crocheting, dancing to old time music and listening to country music. Her grandchildren will remember her for her famous homemade donuts.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Walter (Betty) Nelson of Warner Robbins, GA, Ronald (Marilyn) Nelson of Owatonna, Larry (Paulette) Nelson of Austin, and Marian (Kenneth) Copa of White Bear Township, MN; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Pike of Mason City; three sisters, Dorothy Naber of Mason City, Alice Olson of Northwood, and Thelma DeLaney of Austin and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three brothers and two sisters.
