Loren Edward Hrubetz, 57, of rural Lake Mills, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at his home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Joice, with Reverend Bill Peters officiating.  Burial was in the Kensett Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by members of "Our Buddies" Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6779 of Northwood.

Loren Edward Hrubetz was born on Oct. 1, 1949, in Mason City, the son of Charles and Lucile (Knudtson) Hrubetz.  He was baptized on Jan. 15, 1950, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett, and reaffirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation on May 17, 1964, at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood.

He attended Northwood-Kensett Community schools, and graduated from Northwood-Kensett High School with the class of 1968.  Loren was inducted into the U.S. Navy on March 5, 1969 from Northwood, and was honorably discharged on April 19, 1972 at Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA.  After his honorable discharge he came back to Northwood and began working for Don Dahlby on his farm in rural Northwood.  Loren also worked for 28 years for the Worth County secondary road department, and at the time of his death was their foreman. 

He was united in marriage to Jean (Reyerson) on Sept. 8, 1979, at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, and to this union two children were born, Dustin and Jackie.

Loren enjoyed being with his family, farming, enjoyed cars, car shows, going to car races, belonging to the Aristocrats Car Club in Northwood, dancing, music, and Buddy Holly Days in Clear Lake.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Dustin Hrubetz and his fiancé Sarah Cruise of Emmons, MN, and Jackie Hrubetz of Rochester, MN, his brothers and sister, Richard (Mary) Hrubetz of Joice, Kathy (Dave) Gallaher of Joice, and Ron (Rhonda) Hrubetz of Joice, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

His parents, and a brother, Dave Hrubetz, preceded him in death.
