KENSETT, IOWA -- Marlys Gordon, 64, of Kensett, died Monday (April 1, 1996) at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett, with the Rev. Selmer "Sam" Hernes and the Rev. Eugene Wolfley officiating, with burial in the Kensett Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, U.S. Highway 65 S., Northwood.

Marlys (Hanson) Gordon was born on May 18, 1931, in Des Moines, to Martin and Nellie (Holden) Hanson of Plymouth. She attended school in Plymouth and Manly.

Marlys married Richard M. Gordon on Nov. 4, 1950, in Plymouth. They moved to a farm west of Kensett where they lived until her death. Marlys knew and loved Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed attending concerts, classical music, antiques, traveling and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Richard M. Gordon of Kensett; four children, Randy Mooney and her husband, Andrew, and their four children, Bennett, Harrison, Maxwell and Samuel of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada; Richard Gordon Jr. and his wife, Roxanne, and their three children, Heather, Nathan and Matthew of Plymouth; Joel Gordon and his wife, Kristine, and their two children, Jacob and Michael of Northwood; Jessica Marvin and her husband, Rodney, and their son, Kyle, of Mason City; her stepmother, Lou Hanson of Boise, Idaho; and a brother, John Hanson of Jensen Beach, Fla.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Nellie Hanson.
