KENSETT, IOWA - Agnes Pauline Amundson, 92, of 985 380th St., died Monday (Feb. 1, 1999) at the Lutheran Retirement Home at Northwood.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, with the Rev. Sam Hernes officiating. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. Memorials may be given in memory of Agnes P. Amundson to Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Hospice of North Iowa, or the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Agnes was born Dec. 28, 1906, at Radcliffe, in Hardin County, the daughter of Christen and Martha (Osmundson) Sampson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Garden City.

Agnes married Leroy Amundson on July 5, 1927, in Mason City. On July 5, 1998, they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. They farmed in the Hanlontown and Kensett area for 62 years. She was a member of the Elk Creek Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid circle. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, playing cards, visiting with neighbors, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed the fishing trips with her husband and family.

Agnes is survived by her husband, Leroy Amundson, Kensett; one daughter, Hazel Russel, Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; three sons, Leonard Amundson and his wife, Mary Lou, St. Ansgar, Chester Amundson and his wife, Wilma, Fertile, and Howard Amundson, Kensett; 11 grandchildren, Robert Sjostrom, Steven Russel, Michael Amundson, Lewis Amundson, James Amundson, Donna Mueller, Rhonda Nowell, Susan Amundson, Jan VanHorn, Sara Amundson and Eric Amundson; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mae Wegner, Fort Myers, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
