NORTHWOOD, IOWA — Emmett Schinnow, 82, of Northwood, died Wednesday (Oct. 28, 1998) at his home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 S., Northwood, with the Rev. David Wall officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.

Emmett was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Mason City to Emil and Bertha (Raywinkle) Schinnow.

He operated the Coffee Cup Cafe in Mason City and the Midway Cafe in Northwood for many years.

He married Ann Kramer on Feb. 22, 1938.

He married Velma Hanson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Sept. 17, 1960.

A recovered alcoholic, Emmett worked for 16 years with the Fountain Lake Treatment Centers in Forest City and Albert Lea and with Alcoholics Anonymous to help others overcome their addictions.

He is survived by his wife, Velma, of Northwood; one son, Richard Schinnow, of Rock Falls; two daughters, Marilyn Dauberg and her husband, Gary, of Morgan Hill, Calif.; and Connie Deets and her husband, Horace, of Annandale, Va.; a stepdaughter, Joanne Wignes and her husband, Jim, of Rochester, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Schinnow, of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and a brother, Robert.
