MANLY, IOWA - David Charles Colby, age 64, of 215 W. Walnut died Friday (Aug. 29, 2008) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly, with the Rev. Wendy Abrahamson, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

David Charles Colby was born on February 12, 1944, the son of Charles and Bernice (Olsen) Colby. He attended Northwood-Kensett schools.

David was united in marriage to Darlene Plante on Dec. 2, 1962; to this union three children were born.

David loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his greatest love was riding his motorcycle and music.

David is survived by his children, Jeanette Smith, of Northwood, Jeffery Colby, of Fernandina, Florida; grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, of Joice, Jolene Kockler, Justina Smith, Joshua Jaspers, all of Northwood, Steven and Michael Colby, both of Georgia, Danielle and Megan Colby, both of Northwood; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Kiley, Jacob, Hailey, Spencer, Madylyn and Landon; sister Ruth (David) Miller, of Mason City; special friend, Sandra Rainey, of Manly; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bernice Colby; wife, Darlene Colby; son, Jerry Colby and grandson, PFC Dustin Colby.
