John A. Ford

John A. Ford came in 1875. He was born in Norway, in 1876, and is a son of Andrew J. and Barbara (Hanson) Ford, natives of Norway. In 1853 they came to the United States, and settled in Allamakee Co., Iowa, where they lived until 1863, when they removed to Winneshiek county, and in the fall of 1875 settled on section 26, of Fertile township, where they now reside. John is the only child now living. He received a common school education. He was married, in 1874, to Ingra Nelson, born in Dane Co., Wis., in 1855. This union has been blessed with six children - Andre N., Nels O., Betsy C., Ida, Isabella and John B. Mr. Ford affiliates with the republicans, and has held local offices. The family are connected with the Lutheran Church. His farm contains 347 acres.Source: History of Mitchell and Worth Counties, Iowa, 1884, p.762
