Seeking info on SC relatives

I am looking for assistance with helping find out more about my grandmother and her parents.

Myrtle Covell was born on 31 August 1903 in SC to James Herbert Covell and Ida Patience Hurd (maiden name). I can't seem to find anything about her birth in Woodbury County vital records other than a delayed record of birth from the 1960s. That record lists "Covelle-Bailey" as her father's name but that's a hyphenated form of last names for her purported father (Covell) and step-father (Bailey). Any help or suggestions? She married Arthur Brault and lived almost her entire life in Sioux City.
