Larry L. Pierce Sr., 87, of Correction-ville, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024 at his home of Correctionville.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville with Mark Demarest officiating.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville. Online condolences can be made at nicklasdjensenfh.com

Burial will be at the Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville with military rites conducted by the American Legion Mumford-Moon Post #79 and VFW Sioux Valley Post #1750 of Correctionville. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry LaDean Pierce, Sr. was born December 9, 1936 in rural Mapleton, Iowa to Frank and Mabel (Wacheldorf) Pierce. He attended Anthon High School then joined the United States Navy and served in the Korean War on the USS Rogers.

Larry was united in marriage to Betty Siefke on June 27, 1959 in Correctionville, Iowa. They made their home in Correctionville where they raised four children. Larry was a “Jack of All Trades” working a variety of jobs during his lifetime. He owned and operated Pierce Produce and Clothing.

He was also a school bus driver and worked for the City of Correctionville. He enjoyed bowling, camping and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a member of the American Legion Mumford Moon Post #79.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty in 2021; brothers, Glenn “Smokey”, Louis, Melvin, Roger “Butch”, Darrell and Wayne.

He is survived by his children, Sandra “Barnie” (Brian) Goettsch of Galva, IA, Larry Pierce, Jr. of Elk Point, SD, Phil (Jo) Pierce of Sioux City, IA, Laurie Pierce of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Shane Pierce, Stephanie Brandt, Chad Pierce, Ryan Goettsch, Nicole Koster and Annie Pierce; 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Terry (Rhonda) Pierce of Redmond, OR; two sisters-in-law JoAnn Pierce of Sioux City, IA and Laquita Pierce of Anthon, IA and a brother-in-law, Brad Siefke of Washta, IA.
