12 December 2024Dorothy E. Parker, age 96, of Anthon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 06, 2024, at the Anthon Community Methodist Church of Anthon, Iowa. Lay Minister Shirley Nelson will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery of Anthon, Iowa.
A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 06, 2024, at the Anthon Community Methodist Church of Anthon, Iowa.

Dorothy was born on August 2, 1928, in rural Anthon, Iowa, to Elmer and Matilda (Roggatz) Sands. She graduated from Anthon High School with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Wallace Parker on July 6, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa. This union was blessed with five children: Nancy, Carol, Charlotte, Lloyd and Frank.
The couple lived and farmed near Anthon until they retired and moved into town in 1982. They both enjoyed traveling and sightseeing around the United States. Wallace passed away in May of 2002, after being married for 53 years. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the Anthon area.
Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist church and UMW in Anthon. She fondly remembered teaching country school for a few years and making lifelong friends of the students she taught. She enjoyed Bingo, her flower gardens, playing cards, and her children and grandchildren. Her favorite hobby was quilting and she gave many beautiful quilts away to family and friends.
Survivors left to cherish Dorothy’s memory include her three daughters, Nancy Ashley Seuntjens of Danbury, IA, Carol (Alan) Pierce of Spencer, IA, and Charlotte Walsh of Odebolt, IA; two sons, Lloyd (Jody) Parker of Anthon, IA, and Frank Parker of Bellevue, NE; ten grandchildren: Jason (Kelly) Ashley, Jarod Ashley, Clinton Pierce, Cody (Stephannie) Pierce, Laurie (Jay) Warren, Michelle (John) Schultz, Jordan (Nick) Haedt, Brittany (Bryant) Harms, Keith (Andrea) Parker, Jake (Kelsey) Parker, and 24 great grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Williams of Sioux City, IA, and Louise Gaines of Casper, WY; brother-in-law Dick Pederson of Missoula, MT; along with other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Parker; parents, Elmer and Matilda Sands; three sisters, Mildred (Frank) Moore, Pearl (Leroy) Schwanz, and Ruby (Virgil) Colshan; brothers, Arnold (June) Sands and Darrell (Winnie) Sands; brothers-in-law, Walt Williams, James Gaines, and Bill Robeson; sisters-in-law Betty Parker Pederson and Wilma Parker Robeson; sons-in-law, Chick Ashley, Enier Seuntjens and Steve Walsh; granddaughter Angela Pierce; and grandson Alex Parker.
