14 November 2024Sheila Kathleen (Boyle) Theobald was born on November 14, 1931, to Thomas and Berniece (Brenner) Boyle in Morgan Township near Danbury, Iowa. Sheila was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Danbury, and she remained a woman of deep faith throughout her life. She attended St. Patrick’s Academy, excelling in her studies, and followed her calling to care for others by graduating proudly from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Sheila lovingly cared for her parents and brothers during their times of illness, providing comfort and support.
On January 7, 1961, Sheila married Lester Anthon Theobald at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury. Together they built a life rooted in love and hard work, settling in Mapleton, where Sheila embraced farm life and pitched in with cattle chores. Sheila was a strong, independent woman known for her steadfast nature and candid opinions, a testament to her resilience and spirit.
Throughout her life, Sheila’s Catholic faith was her guiding light. She loved to dance, especially to the music her husband’s band would play, and she treasured the unique adventures she shared with Lester. Often, they would fly to breakfast destinations, taking to the skies in Lester’s plane for special mornings with friends, blending her sense of adventure with the simple joys of life. Her love for family took her across the country, including frequent trips to Oregon to visit relatives. When her beloved home in Mapleton was destroyed in 2011 by a tornado, she transitioned to an apartment in Danbury.
On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Sheila passed away peacefully at Holstein Senior Living, just shy of her 93rd birthday.
