Pamela Andrene Morgan passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024.

A memorial service will be Saturday, September 28 at 11a.m., Saint John’s Lutheran Church of Cushing with burial to follow in the Cushing cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at Saint John’s Lutheran Church,

Pamela was born on August 4, 1945, in Holstein, Iowa to Hazel and Roert E Mohr. She was the oldest of five children, her being the only daughter. She grew up on a farm in Cushing, Iowa and belonged to the 4-H Club, played sports and was active in the Lutheran Youth Group. She loved spending time with her Grandparents, Rena and Albert on their dairy farm.

It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Douglas Morgan. After graduation, she married Douglas in September of 1963.

Doug joined the Airforce and they were stationed in Madison, Wisconsin. There they started their family and had two daughters, Julie and Jolene. After four years of service in the Air Force, Pamela and Doug moved to Sioux City, Iowa where Pam worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

After living in Sioux City, Doug’s career took them to Spencer, Iowa where she worked for Marvin Burke Photography. While living in Spencer, they added two more daughters to their growing family, Jennifer and Janelle.

Moving next to Everly, Iowa where they bought their first home. With it came a beautiful garden she loved spending time in. She helped her daughters with their 4-H projects by growing numerous veggies like green beans and radishes and even peanuts. While in Everly, their fifth daughter Jill was born, completing their family.

Finally moving to Hartley, Iowa where she bought and ran her own flower shop, Morgan’s Floral Center for five years. She was also the first female president of the Hartley Chamber of Commerce.

In 1982, Doug’s career took them to Garden City, Kansas. Where they stayed until 2000. While in Garden City, she worked as an office manager for several doctors and added “Grandma” to her resume. In 1995 Pamela earned her Associates degree from Garden City Community College in Business and Accounting. Pamela was active in Eastern Star and would help in the floral department at the local Dillons Stores during Valentines Day and Christmas to feed her love for floral design. She was always there for her girls, cheering them on from the stands and traveling many miles through multiple states for years on end to watch them play.

In 2000 Pamela and Doug moved to Lawrence, Kansas to be closer to their daughters and their families. While in Lawrence, she worked as a medical coder until 2015, when she joined Doug to help with his transportation brokerage business. In 2020 she officially retired.

In the 24 years she was in Lawrence, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, traveling to see her daughters and family who live in other states, hosting holidays for family, baking and cooking for family and friends, and even hosted “grandchildren only” brunches. She loved staying connected with friends and family on social media and posting pictures and updates of their gatherings and many adventures. She enjoyed learning about history, reading a variety of books, going to the casino, and cheering on the KU Men’s Basketball team. She enjoyed the conversations and connections she made with neighbors while walking the dog. Pamela never met a stranger and was kind to everyone she encountered. She always went above and beyond for people in her life with a smile on her face.

Pamela is survived by her loving husband Doug, Her five daughters, Julie and husband Shannon Hawkins, Jolene and husband Mark Jager, Jennifer and husband Mark Gonzales, Janelle and husband Zeke Ledesma, and Jill and husband Jeff Goldman. Grandchildren Vanessa, Taylor, Amanda, Danielle, McKenzie, Braxton, Alexis, Darian, Alyssa, Zeke, Eli, Annie, Avery, and Elodie. And great-grandchildren, Ellis, Ethan, Ayden, and Armelo.

Pamela was proceeded in death by her parents and brothers Mike Mohr and Mitch Mohr.
