26 September 2024Arlene A. Bernhardt, 95, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Sunrise Health Center of Sioux City.
A visitation and prayer service was held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 with the Pastor Ed Pease officiating, at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville is in charge of the arrangements.
Arlene A. Bernhardt was born October 22, 1928 in Harris, Iowa to Fritz “Fred” and Theresa (Harms) Thies. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1947.
Arlene was united in marriage to Roger Bernhardt on December 22, 1946 in Correctionville, Iowa. They were blessed with three children and raised their family in Moville, Iowa. Arlene was a homemaker while raising her children then worked in the kitchen at Woodbury Central Schools for 13 years.
She was a magnificent painter and crafter and was known for her Peppermint House where she sold her crafts. In her free time she enjoyed tending her flower garden and watching sports. She earned the Wildcat Fan of the Year in 2004 for her dedication to supporting Woodbury Central’s extracurricular activities. She was a member of the Meadows Golf Course in Moville and the Moville Women’s Club. She volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels and at the Woodbury Central Elementary School. Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. She will be fondly remembered by others with a smile on her face.
She is survived by her children, Annette (Bryan) Alfredson of Dakota Dunes, SD, Doug (Cindy) Bernhardt of Monrovia, CA; daughter-in-law, Elsie Bernhardt of Stewartville, MN; six grandchildren, Patrick (Kristen) Bernhardt, Jon (Kathy) Bernhardt, Sarah Bernhardt, Trevor (Mary) Alfredson, Dan (Rachel) Bernhardt and Brittany (Chris) Calvillo; 16 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene Wink, Peggy Hopp and Norma Thies and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Roger Bernhardt; son, David Bernhardt; parents, Fritz and Theresa; brothers, Elwood and Duane; sisters, Marge Streeter, Carol Ashmore and Janice Wink and two infant brothers, James and Dean.
