24 October 2024Joseph D. Linn, 89, of rural Correctionville, died peacefully and surrounded by his family, at Specialty Care Nursing Home, on Monday, Oct. 14. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was born the second of three sons, to Dwight and Leila Linn on August 9th, 1935. He graduated from Pierson High School in 1953 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State College in Farm Operations in 1958.
By vocation, he was a farmer all of his life. He also loved to garden, write poetry, limericks and short stories as well as acting in and attending theater productions. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying his Cessna 182 for many years.
On July 14, 1963, he married Wanda Page, daughter of Howard and Jennie Page of Kingsley, Iowa. They had two children and three grandchildren. Joe had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed meeting new people, traveling and together the couple enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Wanda, his daughter Amy and son Andy (Pamela.) He is also survived by his grandchildren Leila Abigail, Jacob Andrew and Connor Linn, Andy’s children. He was a devoted father and “Papa” with an exceptional work-ethic and provided well for his family and cherished grandchildren, retiring at the age of 84. Additionally, Joe is survived by his brother Roy (Linda) Linn and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his brother Rodger (Bobbie) Linn and his parents.
A Celebration of Life open house is planned for November 3rd at the Correctionville Community Center from 2:00-4:30 PM.
