Frieda D (Clausen) Lehr, 90, of Sioux City, IA, passed away on August 8, 2024, in Salt Lake City UT after a short battle with dementia/Alzheimer's. Frieda was born on March 4, 1934 in Curlew, IA.
After moving to Sioux City to pursue work/career, she met Robert Lehr, and they were married at St. Paul's Lutheran church in 1956. Freida was a devoted wife and mother, avid gardener, frequently canning gallons of salsa for Bob and as gifts for others. She would sew matching outfits for her kids into the wee hours of the morning and cheer them on at their numerous sporting events. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother/great grandmother. As her family got older, she enjoyed a 20+ year career with the Woodbury County Extension Service.
She is survived by her six children, Diane (Bill) McCall, Douglas, Robbie (Peter) Murphy, Sharon (Jim Crump), Denise (Alex) Turk and Susan (Troy) Zimmerman, her 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and hosting exchange daughters Nicole Meury, Berlin, and Nina Jacoby, Finland. Frieda will also be missed by surviving siblings Hans, Herman and Tom Clausen and sister Anna Stover. Frieda was preceded in death by Bob in 2017 and sons-in-law Peter Murphy and Jim Crump.
Funeral to be held September 12th at 10:30 am at St. Paul's Lutheran church In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran church or the Alzheimer's Association.
