Deanna Kay Brown Trexel went home to be with her Savior Thursday, August 29, 2024, holding the hands of Holly and Steve.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Cotopaxi Community Church followed by a short graveside at Coaldale Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Deanna was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to William and Margaret Leibhart Brown. She joined her brother, Jim and sister, MaryLee. She graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1964. Deanna married William Orr and they had a daughter Holly. William passed away in 1980. Deanna married Steve Trexel in 1985 in Sioux City and her family grew with 3 more children (Kimm, Matt, and Nathan).
Deanna loved to sew, crochet, and knit. She also loved to give the items she made away, including baby blankets and hot pads. She belonged to a group of ladies called "Stitch & Give" for many years. Deanna worked as a teacher's aide at the Cotopaxi School for many years. Deanna loved attending the Cotopaxi Community Church where she was a member since 1990. She enjoyed dining out with her family and friends, playing cards, traveling, supporting veterans including Daughters of the American Revolution, attending high school basketball and volleyball games, and reading.
Deanna is survived by her husband, Steve; daughters, Holly (Joseph) Valenzuela and Kimm (Todd) Cropley; sons, Matt (Beth) Trexel and Nathan (Tara) Trexel; brothers-in-law, Jim Brygger, Brian (Dawn) Trexel, Jon (Juanita) Trexel; sisters-in-law, Pat Brown, Sue (Lee) Smith, Debbie (Kevin) Skifstad, Lisa (Todd) Olson; grandchildren, Brett, Tricia, Steven, Autumn, Lidiya, Mitchell, Regan, Conner, Ashley, Noah, Mya; great-grandchildren Haley, Ryder, and Josiah, and many nieces and nephews including her famous niece Kristi. Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Jim Brown and MaryLee Brygger; brother-in-law, Joel Trexel; and nephews, Jason Trexel and Kristopher Trexel.
