James K. Wych, 44, of Urbandale, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at his home in Urbandale.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steven Dornbusch officiating. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery in Washta, Iowa. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Christy, Smith, and Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home.

Mr. Wych was born Dec. 24, 1951, in Cherokee, Iowa. He was a 1970, graduated of East High School and graduated cum laude from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. in 1993, with a business degree. He married Sandra J. Carroll on April 29, 1972, at the Glendale Baptist Church in Sioux City. He lived in Washta before moving with his family to Sioux City. He moved to Urbandale in 1993. He was employed by Iowa Public Service in Sioux City until 1993, at which time he was transferred to MidWest Energy in Des Moines, Iowa, and then was made the Energy Division Regional Manager for InterCoast Power Marketing Company in Des Moines. He was a former member of the 185th Fighter Wing of the Iowa National Guard in Sioux City.

While in Sioux City, Mr. Wych was a member of the Morningside Lutheran Church, where he was a former president of the congregation. In Urbandale, he was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

He was also a member of the Morningside Lodge Number 615, A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rites Bodies, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, Abu Bekr's Clown Unit, ZaGaZig Shrine Temple in Des Moines, the ZaGaZig's Clown Unit in Des Moines, the High Twelve Club. He also was a Little League, Soccer and T-ball minor league coach, as well as a Cub Scout den leader.

Survivors include his wife of Urbandale; two sons, Seth of Sioux City and Wade of Urbandale; one daughter, Jessica of Urbandale; two sisters and their husbands, Judy and Don Kelly of Belle Vista, Ark., and Janne and James Green of Springdale, Ark.; and two brothers and their wives, Jon and Lori Wych of Amarillo, Texas, and Larry and Jaque White of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Wych.

Pallbearers will be Knud and Charlie Knudson, Jeff and Andy Spates, Chuck Johnson, and Randall Carroll.

Memorials may be given to either, the Urbandale High School Wrestling program or to the Abu Bekr Shrine Clown Unit in Sioux City.
