Clem Wessling

Clem Wessling Sr., age 88, of Danbury, Iowa, died Monday, February 5, 1990, in Midlands Community Hospital in Papillion, Nebraska, after a short illness.

Services were held on Thursday, February 8, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa, with Rev. James Tigge offiicating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Danbury. The rosary was held on Wednesday, February 7 at 3:0O p.m. at St. Mary's and then was a Scripture Reading at 7:30 p.m. also at the church.

He was born near Danbury November 10, 1901 to John and Anna Knobbe Wessling. He married Myrtle Caldon in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Danbury November 8, 1927. Myrtle died October 20, 1984. Clem farmed in the Danbury area. In 1947 he moved to the farm of his birth and lived there until 1984 when he went to live with a daughter and granddaughter in Omaha.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Clem Jr. (Butch) and Kay of Danbury; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Joan and Lee Slipsager of Bellevue, Nebraska and Norma and Charles Cameron of Beaver Lake, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a brother, Norbert Wessling of Danbury and a sister, Gertrude Wessling of Jacinta, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, John (Bemie) and Paul and two sisters, Mae and Tina.

Pallbearers were Dan Cameron, Dave Cameron, Burt Wessling, Leonard Wessling, Alvis Wessling and Kenneth Wessling.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Christensen Funeral Home of Battle Creek-Ida Grove.
