Death Takes Joseph Welte of Danbury

Joseph Welte, 93, former Danbury town assessor and justice of the peace for many years, died Friday night at an Ida Grove, Iowa, nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. Rev. A. Sweeney will officiate. Burial will be in the Danbury Cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the Christiansen Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Mr. Welte was born Nov. 2, 1872, in Dubuque County, Iowa. He married Cornelia Callahan Sept. 4, 1894. She died Jan. 28, 1941.

He was Danbury town assessor for 34 years, justice of the peace for 30 years, and served on the election board for 50 years.

Survivors include four sons, Dan, Gerald, and William, all of Danbury, and Charles of Alhambra, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Ilene Hudgel of Ida Grove, Mrs. Ethel Petit of Oto, and Mrs. Ora Collins of Napa, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Montgomery and Mrs. Mary Wessling, botn of Carroll, Iowa; a brother, Frank of Danbury; 32 grandchildren; 80 great- grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren.
