Danbury Man Dies as Car Leaves Road

Donald John Weber, 34, operator and owner of the Weber Farm Store and Trucking Service at Danbury, was killed early Friday when he was thrown out of a car he was driving when it went out of control on Highway 175 about three miles west of Battle Creek, Iowa.

Sheriff Don Gebers of Holstein, Iowa, who investigated, said the body was found 138 feet from the car, which flopped "end over end" into the ditch. Weber died of a broken neck.

Mr. Weber, a longtime resident of the Danbury community, was born Feb. 25, 1930 near Danbury. He married Marion Petrositch August 17, 1963 at Danbury.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Community Club all of Danbury.

Survivors besides the widow include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Weber of Danbury; four brothers, Raymond of Danbury, Leo, James, Vernal, all of Mapleton, and six sisters, Mrs. James Sokolowski and Mrs. Ronald Seuntgens, both of Danbury; Sister Ann Marie, OSF, of Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. Thomas Thiel and Mrs. James Barkley, both of Mapleton, and Mrs. John Holloran of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The body was taken to the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton.
