24 November 1960William John Lacey, son of James and Margaret Lacey was born April 5, 1876 at Austin, Minnesota. He passed away November 18, 1960 at the age of 84
years, 7 months and 13 days.He came to Ida County, Garfield township with his parents at the age of 7 where he grew to manhood. In January 1907, he married Agnes Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes, 3 sons; Duane and Garth of Danbury and Galen of Chatfield, Minnesota; 1 daughter Mrs. Herman Sohm of Danbury, 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 4 sisters; Miss Katherine Lacey of Sioux City, Mrs. Maude Skoda of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Eva Weinert of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Lucille McMurrer of Arlington, Va. He was preceded in death by one son Vance.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Monday, November 21, 1960 at the Methodist church in Danbury with Rev. Earl Kurtz officiating. Bruce Goodenow of Battle Creek sang “What a Friend we have in Jesus” and “Rock of Ages” accompanied by Mrs. C. R. S. Anderson.
Burial was in the Danbury cemetery under the direction of Christensen Funeral Home at Battle Creek.
Pallbearers were six grandsons, Royce Lacey, Darnell Lacey, Dale Lacey, Kenneth Lacey, Keith Lacey and Kyle Lacey.
