Roger R. Jones, 56, of Daly City, California, died March 1, 1997, at his home. His remains were returned to Anthon for burial, with services held Monday, March 31, 1997, 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial followed in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery at Anthon under direction of Armstrong Funeral Home of Anthon.

Mr. Jones, son of Merl and Marie Castleman Jones of Anthon, attended St. Joseph's Elementary School, graduated from Anthon High School in 1958, and attended Iowa State university before graduating from submarine school and entering the U.S. Navy. He served four years in the Navy. He married Janet Young February 1, 1964, in San Francisco. They made their home in Daly City, California. After completing 30 years with AT&T, he took early retirement, having suffered a stroke.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Janet; his mother, Marie; three brothers, Don of Sioux City, Larry and his wife Cathie of Iowa City, and Bob and his wife, Sue, of Twin Falls, Idaho; a niece and five nephews.

He was preceded by his father.
