Harold John Hilger, 85, of Correctionville died Saturday, August 7, 1993, at Embassy Towers Nursing Home in Sergeant Bluff.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. Gerald Zensen officiating. Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Anthon under direction of Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Harold John Hilger was born October 23, 1907, in David City, Nebraska, the son of Victor and Mary (Reisdorff) Hilger. He married Frances Novacek September 4, 1928, in Brainerd, Nebraska. She died June 12, 1966. He married Esther Levin September 10, 1968, at Kingsley. He came to Iowa in 1940 and was a farmer and cattle feeder in the Correctionville and Washta areas until retiring in 1991.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Anthon and held various offices in that church.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Romario (Jane) Juarez of Omaha and Mrs. Diane Franzen of LeMars, a son and his wife, Robert and Sharon Hilger of Olathe, Kansas, two brothers, Leonard and Sylvester, both of David City, a sister, Margaret Theween of David City, 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three stepdaughters, Mrs. Duane (Betty) Burns and Mrs. Lee (Anna Marie) Smith, of Correctionville, and Mrs. Gary (Janet) Brown of Bena, Minnesota, and two stepsons, Lester J. Levin of Sioux City and Arnold Levin of Grand Marais, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Hilger, a sister, Ida Hilger, a son-in-law, Merlin Franzen and two grandsons, James Franzen and Michael Hilger.
