Correctionville Bank President P.S. Hart Dies

Correctionville, Iowa -- P. Stoltz Hart, 65, Correctionville, president of the Corn Belt State Bank at Correctionville and a widely known community leader, died April 20 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. April 23 at the Correctionville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matt Leach officiating. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Anthon will be under direction of the Barker Funeral Home at Correctionville.

Mr. Hart was born Nov. 24, 1909, in Correctionville and was a life-long resident of the community. During his high school years he was employed at the E. J. Mills Drug Store. He was graduated from Correctionville High School and studied commerce at the University of Iowa for two years. He served as assistant postmaster from 1933-34 and was in the automobile business from 1934-38. In February 1938, he became associated with the Corn Belt State Bank at Correctionville, and he was named president of the bank in 1954.

He was town treasurer for 14 years and served on the town council for several years.

Mr. Hart was an original stockholder and organizer of the Valley View Nursing Home and had served on the home's board of directors since its inception in 1965.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Burning Bush Lodge 471, AF&AM.

He married Irene Fleming Nov. 24, 1938 in Anthon.

Survivors include the widow; two brothers, Roland of Correctionville and Ross of Council Bluffs, and two sisters, Mrs. D. W. (Maurine) Malone of Medford, Ore., and Mrs. James (Marjorie) Smith of Riverview, Fla.
