Bert C. Green was born near Rock Valley, Sioux Co., Iowa, January 17, 1891, and died at his home about four miles northwest of Oto on Tuesday, December 18, 1934, at the age of 49 years. Death was caused by pneumonia. He had been ill for nine days. An ambulance was waiting to take him to the hospital when he suddenly became worse and passed away at 1 o'clock.

He was united in marriage to Anna Hawn January 7, 1915, and was preceded by his wife 8 ½ months ago, and by two sons and daughter, who died in infancy.

Thos left to mourn are five sons, Donald, Joe, Charley, Junior, and Kenneth; one daughter, Mary Ann; his mother, Mrs. Josie Green; three brothers, Barney, John and Charles, and three sisters, Mrs. Berenice Benton, Mrs. Opal Oregon, and Miss Irene Green, all of Oto.

Since the death of his wife, Mr. Green had taken the entire care of his five small sons and the daughter making her home with her grandmother, Mrs. Josie Green.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Oto with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Anthon. Hudgel's Funeral Service of Anthon was in charge of arrangements.
