Services held for Anna Gotto

Anna Frances Gotto the daughter of Henry and Mary (Haumann) Hehn was born March 19, 1892 in Germany. Anna died at a Sioux City hospital on December 12, 1978 having attained the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 23 days.

Anna came to the U.S. in 1908 settling in the Mapleton Community. She was united in marriage to Nickolas Gotto on January 17, 1911. After marriage they made their home in the Danbury-Oto communities, where they farmed. They moved into the town of Oto in 1948.

Mr. Gotto preceded his wife in death on Nov. 7, 1968.

Anna was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto, the Altar Society and a past member of the Legion Auxiliary in Oto.

Services were held Friday, December 15, 1978 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Oto, Iowa. The Rev. Robert Leiting officiated with the burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery at Anthon. Rosary was recited Thursday, December 14, at the Walter Chapel in Anthon.

Survivors include, 2 sons, Nick Jr. of Oto, Joseph of Correctionville, 5 daughters: Katherine, Mrs. Eugene Lewis of Smithland, Doris, Mrs. Joseph O'Connell also of Smithland, Mae, Mrs. Harold
Handke of Bronson, Margaret, Mrs. Joseph Ronfeldt, also of Bronson and Anna, Mrs. Tracy Handke, Oto. 28 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons, 1 brother, 3 sisters, 1 grandson, 1 great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Raymond Svendsen, Bob Gotto, Kenneth Handke, Dan Gotto, Jim Handke, Don Ronfeldt, Tim O'Connell, and Steve Gotto.
