1 October 1913

At an early hour Sunday morning John Flynn, one of the best liked farmers of this locality, passed away at his home south of town of paralysis, of which ailment he had suffered for more than a year, the past nine months being bedfast.

He was a patient sufferer during his entire illness and seldom complained of his lot. The affliction was brought on by over-lifting which caused curvature of the spine, paralysis following.

Deceased was born in Ontario, Canada, November 10, 1855, and came to Shelby Co., Iowa, in 1881 where he was married to Louisa Farmer of Ontario, Canada, in June 1898. In 1903 they moved to the present home one mile south of Anthon where they have since resided.

Besides the wife and two sons, Walter, aged 14 years, and John, aged 9 years, together with three brothers, Mike, Jerome and Thomas of Dunlap, and four sisters, Mrs. Pat Grady, Mame and Maggie of Dunlap, and Alice of Chicago, mourn his death.

All the above named relatives were in attendance at the funeral which was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tuesday Morning, September 30th at 10 o'clock and interment made in Mt. St. Joseph's Cemetery.
