Funeral services for George D. "Shorty" DeVault, 66, of Ida Grove and formerly of Anthon, were at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. He died Friday, January 30, 1987, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove after a long illness.

The Rev. Harry Dailey officiated, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of Christensen Funeral Home of Ida Grove.

Mr. DeVault was born November 18, 1920, in Elk Point, South Dakota. He married Loretta Carr on June 7, 1948, in Anthon. She died May 25, 1976, in Ida Grove. He had lived in Anthon and Ida Grove communities and in Sioux City. He returned to Ida Grove about a year ago. He had been a parts man for various automobile agencies.

Survivors include one son, George M. DeVault of League City, Texas, one daughter, Mrs. Everett (Kathryn Ann) Cook of Ponca City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; one brother, Duane of Clear Lake, and one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Marie) Dupuy of Brusly, Louisiana.
