Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon for Mrs. Catherine Coyne, 92, a pioneer resident of the Anthon-Oto community who died Friday at the home of her son, Thomas, in Anthon.

Rev. Father A.M. Conlon officiated. Father Robert Chamberlain, Mrs. Coyne's grandnephew, was present in the sanctuary and assisted with the burial service. The Catholic Daughters stood as an honor guard at the church. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were six Kvidera grandchildren, Vincent, Bernard, Dennis, Cyril, Fred and Joseph Kvidera.

Mrs. Coyne was born June 29, 1868, near Oto, the youngest of four daughters born to Thomas and Honora Sullivan O'Connell. She lived in the Oto community until 1935 when she moved to Anthon. She married Sylvester Coyne in 1894 at Danbury. He died in 1939.

Mrs. Coyne had spent the past several years in the home of her son, Thomas, in Anthon. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors are four sons, Thomas of Anthon, Hugh of Oto, Neil and Maurice of Sioux City; 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, her parents, one son, one daughter and three sisters."
