Dorothy Mary Carr, 89, of Sioux City died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Morningside Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services were held Monday, April 25, at the Church of the Nativity, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Dorothy was born July 27, 1915, in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of John Albert and Angela (Collins) Sevening. She attended Danbury schools.

On January 11, 1938, Dorothy was united in marriage to Cyril Carr in Anthon, Iowa. Cyril passed away in 1984. Dorothy owned and operated a resort in Park Rapids, Minnesota, for eleven years. She also owned two different restaurants for several years and made coffee and donuts for Sunshine Foods.

She attended Church of the Nativity. Dorothy loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her pets and going bowling. Dorothy will be remembered for her cinnamon rolls and homemade noodles. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include five sons, Jim and his wife, Annie Carr of Yuma, Arizona, Jerry and his wife, Petie Carr of Loyalton, California, Jack Carr of Valdosta, Georgia, Joe and his wife, Mary Carr of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jay and his wife, Beth Carr of Hyampom, California; two daughters and their husbands, Judith and William Lourens of Sioux City, and Jenny and Paul Hensel of Lake Havasu, Arizona; and a brother and his wife, Albert "Bob" and Marian Sevening of Anthon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Cook; a sister, Eileen Sokolowski; and a brother, Bud Sevening.
