Clyde Raymond Banta, 71, Rodney, Iowa, former Woodbury County farmer, died Wednesday at a Battle Creek, Iowa, nursing home after a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Oto. The Rev. Thomas Munn will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Anthon under the direction of the Willman Funeral Home of Rodney. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 o'clock tonight at the funeral Home.

Mr. Banta was born May 3, 1900, at Anthon. He married Mary Schuh on Nov. 16, 1926, at Anthon. The couple farmed in the Anthon and Oto area until he retired from farming, when they moved to Rodney. At Rodney he was employed by the town as marshal and had charge of street maintenance. He also worked as custodian of Grant Cemetery at Rodney.

Survivors are the widow; three sons, John and Clyde, both of Sioux City, and Leonard of Rodney; and five grandchildren.
