Jo Ann was born on April 22, 1950, to Lee and Evelyn (Jones) Woolworth. She spent her youth in her favorite neighborhood of Leeds, graduating from Leeds High School in 1969. She met the love of her life, and her future husband, Ray Patton Jr, at Leeds High School. They were married Aug. 2, 1969. This union created 3 children Robert, Richard and Rebecca.

Jo Ann loved spending time with family. She was well known as a volunteer for her children's various activities such as Girl and Boy Scout leader, volleyball and t-ball coach, supportive coach's wife, Sunday school teacher, chaperone for teen events and active in the PTA. She also enjoyed attending as many of her grandchildren's events as she could, even in the later years when attending events became a challenge due to her poor health. She worked 30 years in the Sioux City School District at various elementary schools as a diligent building aide and secretary. She truly enjoyed working with school children.

Jo Ann was a member of Wesley United Methodist of Sioux City from birth until she relocated to Akron in 2013, when she then became a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church there.

Left to cherish Jo Ann's memory are her children, Robert (Shannon), Richard (Tara), and Rebecca; eight wonderful grandchildren, Josie, Payton, Madison Green, Andrew, Lauren, Kolby, Kaden and Kali Patton; sister Judy Lewis; and sisters-in-law Peggy and Charlotte Woolworth. Also, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents and three brothers, Leland, Jeffrey and Douglas Woolworth. Pallbearers will be her eight grandchildren.
