Mrs. Mary Ellen Morey, 88, longtime Woodbury County resident, died at her home in Luton Tuesday night. She was born March 14, 1857, in New Hampshire and moved with her family to Wilbur, Neb., as a child.
On May 12, 1874, she was married to George W. Morey at Wilbur. They moved to Luton, la., shortly afterward and she had resided there since.
Preceding her in death were her husband, who died January 2, 1936; twin sons who died in infancy, and a son, Will who died in 1945.
Surviving are four sons, Tom of Sloan, la.; Harry and Bert, both of Sioux City, and George of Lawton, la.; three daughters, Mrs. Iva Hopkins of Inman, Neb.; Mrs. Sidney Wight of Chualar, Cal., and Mrs. Van Auken of Seattle, Wash.; 40 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy funeral home, Morningside, where services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Climbing Hill cemetery.
