F. Leonard Gilbert Was Employed 50 Years by North Western.
F. Leonard Gilbert, 72, 2519 Virginia Street, died Tuesday morning after a heart attack at the home of G. F. Brown, 1425 W. Second Street, where he had lived several weeks.
Mr. Gilbert was born March 23, 1872, in Smoland, Sweden. He came to the United States and to Pomeroy, la., in 1889. He was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern railroad 50 years and retired in March 1942, from the position of roadmaster. He had lived in Sioux City since 1915.
Mr. Gilbert married Anna E. Erickson at Storm Lake, la., October 28, 1894. She died July 29, 1943.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Walter L. Carlson of Sioux City and Mrs. Willard C. Sutherland of New York city; one sister, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Jamestown, N. Y., and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held, at 2 p. m. Thursday in the First Christian church with Rev. Homer E. Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park cemetery under the direction of the West-Heaton funeral home.
