Keith A. Roeper, 89, passed away peacefully with his wife Donna at his side on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at a Sioux City hospital.
A visitation service will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City. A private burial will happen at a later date.
Keith was born May 24, 1933, in Sioux City, the son of Antone and Opal (Small) Roeper. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident, attended local schools and graduated from Leeds High School in 1951.
Keith entered the U.S. Air Force in August 1951 and served as an air traffic controller in England, Texas and California. After he was discharged in June, 1955, he attended Morningside College, graduating in 1958 with a BS degree in Business Administration. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1961 and was a partner in the firm of Peterson, Roeper and King until June 1974 when he was employed as an executive officer of Security National Bank. He retired from the bank in 1995 as Executive Vice President. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Keith married his wife of 69 years, Donna Mae Sorenson, in Sioux City in February 1953. They met while attending Leeds High School.
Keith served on the Board of Directors of Security National Bank as well as numerous affiliate banks. He also served on the Boards of many non-profit organizations including the United Way, Morningside College, Sunrise Manor, Siouxland Y and Sioux City Community Theatre. He was a member of the American Legion, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Iowa Society of CPA's and served as the Chairman of Shazam, Inc., an affiliate of the Iowa bankers Association. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Keith is survived by his wife, Donna Roeper; three children, Dana Windnagle, Susan Roeper (Peter Filkins) and Greg Roeper; and five grandchildren, Christopher and Katie Windnagle, Malina Filkins (Benjamin Holmes) and Isabel Filkins, and Alexa Roeper.
Keith was preceded by his parents Antone and Opal Roeper; and sister Karen Falk and her husband Norm Falk.
The family asks that contributions in lieu of flowers be made to either the Siouxland Tri State Food Bank at 1313 11th St. STE 1, Sioux City, IA 51105; or to Wesley United Methodist Church at 3700 Indian Hills Dr., Sioux City, IA 51104.
